I've
been a potter in Maine since 1973, operating as Mountain Street Pottery
since 1984. I work in stoneware and porcelain clays, firing them to 2300
F in a gas-fired kiln of my own design. I mix my own stoneware clay using
a formula I developed over the years which has excellent workability and
fires to a beautiful warm brown color. It has great thermal shock resistance
which makes it ideal for teapots, casseroles, coffee mugs and the like.
The glazes are all lead-free and the ware is oven/microwave/dishwasher
safe.
A lot of thought goes into the design of each piece: Does it serve its
purpose? Does it function well? Is it comfortable to hold and use? Is
it too heavy or too light for everyday use? Will it stand up to normal
wear and tear and give years of good service? Is it attractive? Would
I want to use it in my own household? I think you will find that the answer
to all these questions is "yes"!
I throw each and every piece of pottery on the potters wheel. I never
use any molds or presses to create my work. My years of experience as
a potter allow me to create pieces that are nearly perfectly matched,
yet each piece will have its own individual characteristics. You'll be
pleased with any piece of my pottery that you use.
Please browse the gallery
of pottery images. There is a wide selection of pieces to choose
from that will fit any budget or need. You can also visit the dinnerware
sets information page to learn about ordering custom-made dinnerware.
Your orders will best be filled by reviewing the page in the custom
ordering section or e-mailing
me your requests.
I market most of my wares by exhibiting at craftshows around the country.
Although most my shows are in the northeast, I also exhibit in Florida,
the Washington, DC area and elsewhere. I attend about twenty shows a year
so there is a chance I will be near your area at some time in the future.
Contact me for a list of upcoming shows by e-mail.
